The Portland Jazz Orchestra feat. Westbrook High School

Your Portland Jazz Orchestra welcomes the Westbrook High School Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Kyle Smith on Thursday, May 23rd at 8PM.

The Westbrook band, a veteran guest band with repeat performances at PJO’s OLS gigs, always delivers. Kyle Smith, a PJO Alum, has developed a fine music program in Westbrook, boasting award winning jazz bands and concert bands. This group of students will bring their “set” of music to OLS, sharing the stage on May 23rd.  As the school jazz season winds down, we welcome Westbrook and their talented high school musicians to entertain alongside of your Portland Jazz Orchestra.

PJO is thrilled with the outreach program to local high school bands, and this year has been a stellar line up.  From Fryeburg (Jan) to Falmouth (Feb), South Portland (March) and newcomer to PJO and OLS, Thornton Academy (April) we continue with Westbrook High School on May 23rd.  What a season of guest bands we have hosted!

****Coming very soon is PJO Third recording, “Portland Jazz Orchestra, Live at OLS” which was recorded live in November, 2023 right in our home base, One Longfellow Square.  Look for this new release/live recording in the coming weeks.
